Fall Festvials for Families Across the Bayou

At Pelican Point Preschool, we’re excited to celebrate the beauty and fun of fall with our families! Louisiana is bursting with amazing family-friendly fall festivals perfect for creating memories with your little ones. Here are some of our favorite local events to help you make the most of this season:

Louisiana Gumbo Festival – October 10-12, 2025 – 326 Highway 304, Chackbay

Think you know Gumbo? Want to sample truly authentic Cajun gumbo? Then head on over to the “Gumbo Capitol  Louisiana” for the Louisiana Gumbo Festival! Volunteers cook nearly 500 gallons of frofesh seafood and chicken & sausage gumbo during the festival weekend. In addition, come out for great live music, a live auction (Sunday at 1:00 PM), carnival rides, a parade (Sunday at 10:30 AM) and much more. This event was previously named one of the Top 20 Events in the Southeast by the Southeast Tourism Society and proceeds support the local Chackbay Volunteer Fire Department.

Bayou Arts Festival – October 11, 2025 – Downtown Houma

Join us in Downtown Houma for a day of music, arts, crafted items, local food, and kid friendly activities, with all proceeds going back into the community. For more information: Email: director@bayouarts.org or call (985) 209-4404.

Rougarou Festival – October 17-19, 2025 – 86 Valhi Boulevard

The Rougarou Fest is a free family friendly festival with a spooky flair that celebrates the rich folklore that exists along the bayous of Southeast Louisiana with music, food, crafts, and so much more! The Rougarou Fest was ranked as one of the Top 10 Costume Parties in the United States by USA Today in 2014, ranked one of the Top 20 Events out of 11 states in the month of October by the Southeast Tourism Society in 2015 and 2019, awarded Festival of the Year by the Louisiana Travel Association in 2020 and 2023, voted Best Festival in 2023, 2024, and 2025 by Point of Vue Magazine’s People’s Choice Competition, and awarded Best New Event in 2015 and Festival of the Year in 2024 by the Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals.

French Food Festival – October 14-26, 2025 – Larose

Celebrate 50 Years of the French Food Festival in 2025! Enjoy an incredible array of local specialty dishes unique to Louisiana’s Cajun Bayou and influenced by French/Cajun cuisine. Catch a true Cajun vibe with live music, dancing, and entertainment included. Come hungry and bring your stretchy pants because you will want to sample at least one of everything!

Bayou Terrebonne Country Festival – October 25, 2025 – Bayou Terrebonne Distillery

Get ready for a boot-stompin’, whiskey-sippin’, bull-ridin’ good time at our first ever Bayou Terrebonne Country Fest October 25th, beginning 4:00 PM at the Distillery!

BBQ and Bourbon on the Bayou – November 1, 2025 – Downtown Thibodaux

Come out and support Lafourche Arc at the 2025 BBQ and Bourbon on the Bayou Festival. Enjoy a selection of over 35 brands of delicious bourbon, live music, and only the best BBQ from across the region! 

Big Boy’s Main Street Cook-Off – November 7, 2025 – Downtown Thibodaux

Get ready, Big Boy’s Main Street Cook Off is back! This event is a culinary showcase of Cajun cuisine cooked by local chefs from up and down the Bayou. In a two-block area of downtown Thibodaux, you will find dozens of cooks competing in the competition and can sample their authentic Cajun dishes. 

Houma Mac N’ Cheese Festival and Cook-Off – November 8, 2025 – Downtown Houma

Excitement is in the air! Get ready to be part of something extraordinary at the first annual Houma Mac N’ Cheese Cook-Off & Festival benefiting Gulf Coast Social Services. It’s an event like no other, and we want you to be there in Terrebonne Parish Courthouse Square! Every registration to this downtown event will bring us closer to achieving our mission of empowering people with mental, physical, behavioral, and other challenges to improve the quality of their lives and to live as independently as possible in the community. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all.

Thibodeauxville Fall Festival – November 8, 2025 – Downtown Thibodaux

With more than 15,000 visitors expected, the annual event is one of the largest and most anticipated festivals in the Bayou Region. The event features a full day of live music, local cuisine, shopping, and family fun, all in the heart of historic downtown.
